Second Collection August 19/20: Porto Charities Special Kids, Special Needs
Collection

Bishop Burbidge has enthusiastically endorsed Porto Charities “Special Kids, Special Needs Collection” on behalf of intellectually and developmentally challenged youth within the Arlington diocese. On the weekend of August 19/20, there will be a second collection to assist special need programs such as the Paul VI, Pope John Paul the Great, and St. Mark’s School special education option programs, George Mason University Life Program, Gabriel Home, Special Olympics, and the “Keyboard for Kids” program, which provides audio/visual communication capability to special needs students within the diocese. The Bishop has sanctioned this collection as a blessing for God’s Special Children, their families, and this entire diocese. Please be generous in your support of this worthwhile endeavor.

Stewardship
Giving to Our Parish

Stewardship is essential to the life of our parish. There are two options available for you to give financially to the parish: paper envelopes which will be mailed to your house or electronic contributions through enrollment in Faith-Direct.

Faith-Direct is an electronic giving program that allows you to make a secure donation through electronic debit from your checking account or credit on your Visa or Master card. Faith-Direct offers efficiency and simplicity by allowing you to make all of your contributions in advance, even when vacation or business takes you out of town or an illness prevents you from attending Mass. If you do choose to sign up, you will still be able to place an offertory card in the weekly basket during Mass as a visible sign of your support. These cards will be sent to you in the mail by Faith-Direct since the tradition of the offertory collection is so important to us and to our liturgy. If you would like to enroll online or would like to learn more about Faith-Direct before doing so, please visit their website at www.faithdirect.net. If you choose to enroll online, you will need our parish code: VA327.http://www.faithdirect.netshapeimage_9_link_0
Tax Savings through a Gift of Stock

You may make a gift of stock as a donation to our parish or our diocese. In exchange for a gift of long-term, appreciated securities (stock), you can receive an income tax deduction and avoid capital gains taxes on stock appreciation. For more information, please call (703) 841-3896 or visit: www.arlingtondiocese.org/giving/gifts_stock.php. http://www.arlingtondiocese.org/giving/gifts_stock.phpshapeimage_10_link_0
Stewardship is what we do after we say, “I believe.”

As members of the Body of Christ, we find a home in the parish that we join. Just as we have bills to pay in our family home, so also does our parish have bills to pay with the money given by its members each week at Mass. No home can survive without it. Please prayerfully consider your weekly contributions to the parish and remember that stewardship is one of the things we do after we say, “I believe.”
Olol’s Poor Box

“Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me” (Mt 26:40). Did you know that we have a poor box located in the back of the church? Any donation you place in the poor box will be used to assist our less fortunate neighbors to cover expenses such as food, utilities, prescriptions, etc. All recipients are pre-screened by the parish priests.

Seminarian Education Endowment Fund: Funding Priestly Education for the Future of Our Diocese

There are currently 40 seminarians attending higher education in our diocese. After four years, the average cost of each newly ordained priest is nearly $250,000. These seminarians receive a partial scholarship from the Diocese of Arlington, and you can help, too!

The Seminarian Education Endowment Fund (SEEF) is a permanently restricted perpetual endowment held at the Foundation for the Catholic Diocese of Arlington. Funds from the SEEF help cover the cost of tuition, room and board, health insurance, books, and materials associated with educating our seminarians.

Please consider contributing toward the SEEF and help prepare these young men for their life of service. Please make checks payable to “The Foundation for the CDA” and note “SEEF” on the memo line. Mail checks to: The Foundation for the CDA, 200 North Glebe Road, Suite 811, Arlington, VA 22203.
