January 20, 2021 Covid-19 Announcment

We regret to inform you that Father Edlefsen has tested positive with COVID-19.  First, we ask
all parishioners to pray for Father. One of our priests, Father Joe Kenna, was in close contact,
and he will quarantine for 7-10 days per the latest CDC guidelines.  In addition, Father Kenna
will get tested.

While COVID is serious, most people have mild symptoms and recover at home [1] .   Father
Edlefsen is taking steps in accord with the CDC guidelines, “What To Do If You Are Sick.” Father
Edlefsen will self-isolate at the rectory for 14 days. [2]
We are notifying all persons who have been in “close contact” with Father Edlefsen over the
past 48 hours (per CDC guidelines), and they are encouraged to self-quarantine and monitor for
symptoms of COVID in accordance with CDC Guidelines, “What To Do If You Are Sick.” [2]
Close contact is defined as being with someone infected at less than 6 feet for more than 15
minutes.  If you were in close contact with Father Edlefsen (less than 6 feet for longer than 15
minutes) during the past 48 hours, you are encouraged to self-quarantine and monitor for
symptoms.  If you had incidental contact, you are encouraged to monitor symptoms like
everyone should do during this pandemic.

Please understand that there will be temporary impacts to our sacramental ministries.
Per CDC guidelines, the church will be cleaned tomorrow to include all common surfaces such
as door handles, light switches, bathrooms, etc.
Moreover, out an abundance of caution, we will be cleaning the Parish Office tomorrow.

We are working to assure coverage for all weekend and weekday Masses and Confessions.

We conclude, by asking all of you to please pray to Our Lord and Our Lady for protection from
the illness and a safe recovery for those infected.

We have resumed our regular schedule of Masses and all Masses are open to the public.

Parishioners are asked to take the following precautions at Our Lady of Lourdes:

⬥ Face masks must be worn inside the church.

⬥ A social distance of 6 feet must be maintained at all times, including while seated in pews and while in line for Communion.

⬥ Communion is distributed behind a plexiglass station. Receiving Communion in the hand is recommended.

⬥ Confessions are not held face to face. All confessions are heard behind a screen.

⬥ Bishop Burbidge has granted a dispensation from the Sunday Mass obligation to all Catholics in the Arlington Diocese. This dispensation is extended until further notice.

My Jesus,

I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
