The Catholic Diocese of Arlington has officially published an Edict from the Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge initiating the Cause of Beatification and Canonization for Thomas Stephen Vander Woude. Remembered for his devotion to faith, family, and service as a U.S. Naval Aviator, Thomas gave his life on September 8, 2008, in a heroic act of self-sacrificial love to save his youngest son. In accordance with canonical law, all faithful are invited to submit any testimonies—favorable or contrary—or relevant writings (such as diaries, letters, or documents) to the Reverend Monsignor Paul deLadurantaye, Chancellor of the Diocese of Arlington, at 200 North Glebe Road, Suite 914, Arlington, VA 22203.
